BANANA PARK - Under one District One Product, Banana has been selected for Palakkad District. A Banana Park with R&D with facility to train in modern management practises Banana plantations

PALMYRAH PALM DEVELOPMENT BOARD - Palakkad accounts for 45% of Palm in the State. Declare Palmyrah as the district tree of Palakkad. Launch a Palmyrah Development Mission; Plant one lakh palms per year, as a ‘Peoples Programme’ by Friends of Palmyrah.

MODERNISATION OF WHOLESALE FISH MARKETS IN PALAKKAD - Mannarkkad, Pattambi, Pudunagaram and Vadakkanchery.

MODERN ABATTOIR - Around 6-8 lakh buffaloes/ bulls enter State for meat purpose through 18 Animal Husbandry check posts in Kerala. 7 of these check posts are in Palakkad and 60-70% of the livestock passes through it. Modern abattoir at Food Park in Kanjikode is the need of the hour. Leather for the Tannery industry in Tamil Nadu would be an economic spin off from the Abattoir.

FRESH WATER AQUA CULTURE – Palakkad with 10,061 ha of water resources has potential for development of fresh water aquaculture.

Bio FLOC Fish Farming - Palakkad, a land locked district should initiate measures to benefit from this scheme launched by the State and get atleast 50 units of the 500 units proposed for entire Kerala.

EXPORT ORIENTED FISH PROCESSING UNIT - With the enhanced fish production, there is good scope for an export-oriented fish processing unit in the Food Park at Kanjikode. . Tilapia is the major fish produced under bio floc system with excellent export potential.

BIRD PARK AT MALAMPUZHA - Blessed with natural beauty of western ghats, Malampuzha holds an important place as a tourist destination. The proposal aims at develop 2-5 acres of as a Bird Park for 30-50 species of birds.

FLOATING SOLAR UNITS - the six dams in Palakkad (Malampuzha, Pothundi, Mangalam, Walayar, Siruvani, Kanjirapura, Meenkara) and their canals offer excellent scope for installation of floating solar plants, in a phased manner.

AGRI FARM TOURISM - 11 sites have been identified for Agri farm tourism to be developed in coordination with DTPC and Private Sector.

Campaign on THE CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIO - Palakkad is listed as highly vulnerable district, due to high percentage of population in agriculture activities and higher social deprivation. With Paddy the main crop, this will have adverse effect. Need urgent steps and a time bound programme with funding from National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change / Green Climate Fund.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT ON STREET FOOD (Thattukada) SAFETY – A subsidy linked scheme for 1000 street food vendors in a phased manner to train in food safety and upgrading their sale outlets providing Smart Carts with efficient garbage disposal..
